"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not." — Dr. Seuss, from The Lorax
As some of you are certainly already well aware, Blog Action Day is this Thursday, October 15! The topic for this year is in fact climate change and I can currently report that more than 5000 bloggers have already registered from 126 countries, with more signing up each day. I've been forced to post a bit early, for the simply reason that - well, I'll be out tomorrow night and unable to post at that time. Frankly, it's none of your damn business -- get off my back! So, for those of you who want to get involved - consider this your last chance and go here:
This is my 3rd year involved and while I never take it very seriously, it feels good to be part of a larger movement. However, I'm not actually here to talk about the day - I'm actually supposed to be talking about climate change - so let's do this thing! While I'm certain this will not be a popular opinion, the first thing I think when I hear about global warming? BRING. IT. ON.
With a site title like mine it should come as no surprise to hear that I'm Canadian and even living in the southernmost reaches of this great country I have suffered a lot of cold weather and the thought of not having to go through another winter is a tempting one. While I certainly don't relish the thought, if I have to trade a species of animal or two for that well - I don't want to start listing what animals I could do without because I'm a little scared about how far I'd be willing to go. Let's just say that polar bears are for sure op on the block - hell I could part with those for a mild winter this year only. Why no - I'm not a real bear fan, why do you ask? Beyond that, well - I think we'll have to sit and negotiate on a one-by-one basis, maybe over some hot toddies. Wait - does anyone actually drink hot toddies anymore? Okay - boozy hot chocolates then - whatever.
The truth is I haven't really noticed it getting any warmer - in fact. its been getting colder and wetter, which I've been assured is also a sign of global warming, as is actually getting warmer and I assume no change in the weather at all. No, its not really a laughing matter and I certainly hope I have offended no one - a little global warming would in fact go along way to make this Canucklehead a little happier. Now, if you excuse me I'm going out to drive around aimlessly in my '71 Lincoln while spraying cans of hairspray out the windows indiscriminately. Keep cool babies.
CHEERS!
