TRAFFIC JAM

Well, as many of you already know, Canucklehead.ca started in March of 2007. However, it really was not until late summer that I started to figure out exactly what I was doing. While I clearly place myself still well within the ‘humble beginnings’ stage, I have certainly enjoyed some success – for example, I am delighted to report that my Alexa ranking has gone up almost 5 ½ million spots in the last three months. (Of course, that is made much easier when you are starting at the bottom.) I recently visited Google’s ‘Webmaster Tools’ to see where exactly all my traffic has come from, I don’t have the time or space to thank all 189 traffic sources, but thought I would take the time to recognize the TOP 10. If you are listed below, please accept my heartfelt thanks and know that any level of success that I currently enjoy is due in no small part to you directly.

CANUCKLEHEAD’S TOP 10 TRAFFIC SOURCES

This is the site that I am clearly the most indebted to in terms of traffic. The most amazing thing is that it is not even a permanent link. I was simply lucky enough to have someone (read: me) submit one of the pictures and/or videos from one of the other tabs and made the mailbox page. It has happened only three times but the results were huge and immediate. This is the site that I originally wanted Canucklehead.ca to be the most like. So, while I clearly cannot do it as well, I chose to do it my own way. Check it out – you won’t be disappointed and will go back every day!

I have the Firefox add on and use it SO much. I am constantly amazed at how much great stuff there is on the net if you know where to look. That being said, 90% of my traffic is the direct result of one on my videos, MNF HIJINX becoming a bit of a hit for a few days. Generally though, my success has been hit and miss. I’ve just got too much great competition out there!

This is clearly what I call the ‘homepage factor’. Simply setting my site as my homepage has been my third biggest source of traffic. Sort of sad really. I mean, I suppose my mom my have bookmarked me, but beyond that – meh.

FARK
I truly LOVE the site! I’ve been farking since as long as I can remember and cannot go a day without it. That being said, I’m always hesitant to tell others about it as once they find FARK, well – there is no reason to come back here. You will come back won’t you?

What can I say about Google that has not already been said? They are likely the backbone of these here internets. That being said, it appears that most people that are using it are already looking for me – I mean, would a stranger search for ‘Canucklehead’?

I do really owe these guys quite a bit, although I’m starting to wean myself off of it now. In short, the program has you visit other sites and do reviews and as a result others do the same for you. The numbers do add up if you have the 10-15 minutes a day and there were months where my only traffic came from here.

This is all mainly due to the internets love of BEER GIRLS  and of course MORE BEER GIRLS
although I do get the occasional traffic for other things, all in my LOOK section.

DIGG
I actually cannot explain this one, I don’t use it too much, but clearly others are. I would to thank those people and encourage you all to keep on DIGGing.

What can I say about my good friend JD that has not already been said. She was probably my first blogging buddy and has taken better care of me than I have myself. I am eternally thankful for all she has done. Here blog is always updated (unlike some) and is constantly a interesting and entertaining read. As a token of my gratitude, I will be sending her a recent photo of my bellybutton and encourage you all to do the same.

Okay – now this one surprised me. I mostly put it up there so I could see who was coming to my site and hopefully return the favour. I had no idea I was actually getting traffic from these guys – well ALRIGHT! You go BlogLog!

Once again, a HUGE thanks to all! Now, if anyone can tell me how I can actually make some money from this site, I’ll be all set. Well, maybe I’ll try to figure that out myself. I originally thought I would pimp out my site by doing paid reviews, but Canucklehead just don’t play that way. Oh, last but not least, happy turkey day to all my American brothers and sisters!

All the best,
- C.
